Help test the new Diveboard - and raise more funds!

by Ksso on April 25, 2023

As mentioned in a previous news, we've been working on a full rewrite of Diveboard. While the current version kinda works it had become really hard to maintain, being built on technologies dating back 10+years....The new Diveboard is built on a modern stack and will hopefully set us up for another 10+ years :)

We loaded the entire database of your dives on a test platform located at test.diveboard.org . I'd love for you to come check it out, paying first a good look to the logbook area. Check if you dives are all there, if they looking good, and generally look around! ...

Getting Ready for Diveboard v2 - Join our Discord

by Ksso on September 08, 2021

When we started Diveboard back in 2010, we had no idea it would be such a massive success. Millions of dives have been logged on the platform, making it the largest online logbook ever. Over the years, the company turned into a non-profit with a focus on citizen-science, as we switched Diveboard from being a business to being a mission: Connect, Discover, and Science.

10 years later, the top notch technology we used to build Diveboard has aged, and this month we're starting our biggest project since we laid down the first lines of code back in 2010... We'll be entirely rewriting and modernizing Diveboard!  ...

New release of the Diveboard dive computer agent

by Ksso on November 26, 2018

We just released a new version "20181126" of the Diveboard DC agent. For those who haven't tried it, it's a piece of software that will pull dive data from most dive computers using wired or wireless connections and send them straight to your logbook.

The latest release is available on Linux, Windows and OSX with support for Bluetooth dive computers (and OSX support is back). Get it from the release page on Github.

Thank you Thomas Horner (the0ne) for your contribution to the open source Diveboard project.

Diveboard connects with Movescount - Check it out and win !

by Ksso on June 22, 2015

We've been willing to do it a long time ago - I still remember us talking with the Suunto team at DEMA in 2013 about this. And today it's finally there thanks to the joint effort we  made ! Suunto users who have been enjoying the smooth Moovescount upload through their favorite DM5 agent can now easily pull their dives from Movescount to Diveboard.

This is really the best of both worlds for Suunto customers and at Diveboard we're really proud to be the first to bring you this integration.

To try it out, head over to the Dive Manager and you'll find the "Movescount import" button on the "Bulk upload" tab. You'll also find it on the "Profile" tab on the edit of your dives. ...

Diveboard news: Introducing the Diveboard agent

by Ksso on October 16, 2014

Since the very beginning you've been able to upload dives from your dive computer through the Diveboard plugin that was running within your web browser and connecting to your dive computers. This has worked great so far but came with a few issues such as the lack of an offline mode - you needed to be online and logged in to grab your dive profiles and upload them. Moreover browsers will soon drop the support for plugins like this. So we needed to evolve our plugin towards a more future proof solution.

So we crated the Divebaord Agent.

Just like the plugin, it will work on Mac/Linux/Windows. The agent lives in the tray and will connect to your dive computer and upload dive profiles to...

Tucia loves Diveboard - Free coupons to bring colors back to your pictures

by Ksso on August 08, 2014

Underwater photography is challenging. Not only do you need skills and gear to take a nice shot, but even with a perfect shot the end results may be a bit disappointing.

A lot of stuff come in the way of the perfect picture, namely:

Color absorption: This is why everything looks bleu at depth: red first then green are absorbed by water.

Backscatter: When you use a flash, you'll illuminate all the particles in between you and the subject you're shooting at - ending with countless small white dots everywhere in the picture

Good news : those can be fixed, and doing it properly will turn a good photo into something really amazing ! But picture fixing is really a question of skills and time. ...

Diveboard updates: new commenting & internationalization

by Ksso on May 22, 2014

We've been busy! This week we have two huge upgrades to announce on the platform:

1) The commenting has been upgraded from Facebook Comment - which did a good job but was not really integrated in Diveboard to Disqus. Now if  you're a Diveboard user you'll be commenting using your Diveboard account, if you're not you'll be able to comment using a third-party login mechanism making your life easy. Kudos to Gonzo for bringing this to Diveboard. Check at the bottom of this post to see it in action !

2) Diveboard is now available in French! You can hit the yellow menu and set yoru language or just head to fr.diveboard.com . Gettign there was a journey as we had to go through almost every file...
