    Loughborough Lake

well made it back into the water today. I went with some people I know. A couple of us went diving, while the others decided to go fishing. It was just a practice dive more than anything. We were all relatively new divers, me being the newest. The plan was just to dive at 20-25 foot range and work on some basic skills. However the part of the Lake we were diving in was pretty littered with downed trees so we moved out a bit deeper to avoid getting hung up on anything. Had two firsts today. one being the the first time I ever tried navigating by compass, The second was diving while towing a dive marker along behind me. Also hit a thermocline which was a shock to the system. The temperature dropped about15 degrees in 2 feet. It got real cold real fast. I should have wore a hood. Next time for sure. Other than that I saw a lot of fish, Now I know why my other friends wanted to go there.

    Desert Lake

Easily the worst dive I have ever been on. The visibility was terrible, maybe 10 feet at best. Even with the dive markers and someone in a boat above us. Never really felt safe from the other boaters. I did learn something at least… “ never dive in a busy lake on a holiday long weekend “ The water was so stirred up I couldn’t even see the boat 20 feet above us. It was the only time I have been nervous diving. I sure I wasn’t that nervous during my check out dives. I can’t think of anything positive to say about this dive, try as I might. Next dive will be better.

    Aloha, Effie Mae

Easily the best of our Wreck Dives, and by far the best of our four check out dives. For our third certifying dive we dove a ship called the Aloha. The best preserved wreck I've seen so far. It still looked very much like a ship. Unfortunately Rebecca didn't get to see it with me, she was having trouble clearing her ears so we decided to abort the dive ,and return to the boat.As we were swimming back to the boat Ben And Bridgitte were coming up as well. I guess Bridgitte was having trouble with her ears and mask as well. so rather than all four of us losing our dives they put Ben and I together. We didn't think we;d be going deeper then 40 feet or so today but Ben and I hit about 55 feet. I just don't have enough paper her e to describe how cool it was. The pictures will have to do.

    Simcoe Island

Not the most visually exciting of dives. However as they are check outs we actually had to some skills testing that was required for certification. So for our last dive we headed Shallow water of Simcoe Island to do our mask clearing and such. The water was petty clear here off the point of Simcoe. Rebeccas' ears cleared up for the last dive, and she flew through her skills testing... as did I. The remainder of the day was spent swimming in formation like a bunch of Geese checking out the fish. Spotted more bass, and Perch. Also got to see a couple of big Karp as well this time. All and all a pretty relaxing end to our testing. the only thing left to do now is find a decent picture to send in for my C-Card. Great day, I'm whipped.
